Athena Volunteers At Buffalo Rose Garden
Amherst, N.Y., August 18, 2022— Every year Athena gives back to the community through a day of volunteer service it calls Purpose Day. This year the team volunteered at the Buffalo Olmstead Park Conversancy Delaware Park Rose Garden. The team weeded the beds and pruned dead growth from the rose bushes.
The Rose Garden, featuring 33 beds of roses and a prominent pergola, is a popular site for wedding photos. It was designed and built in 1917 in a French Parterre style with symmetrical geometric lines and uniformly shaped plants and planting beds, walkways, and borders. In the 1930s, a water fountain, which has since been replaced, was sculpted for the center of the plan.
